About DMV Accessibility

Local to Southern Maryland. Built for Families Like Yours.

We're not a national franchise or a call center. We're a Southern Maryland-based team that connects families with vetted, certified contractors who specialize in one thing: keeping seniors safe at home.

Why We Exist

Our Mission

Every year, thousands of Southern Maryland seniors face the same choice: leave the home they've lived in for decades, or risk a fall in a bathroom that was never built for aging. We started DMV Accessibility because that shouldn't be a choice at all. We connect families with licensed, CAPS-certified specialists who make homes safer: quickly, honestly, and without the pressure of a hard sell. The free assessment exists because we want families to have real information before they spend a dollar.

The Key Trust Section

How We Vet Every Contractor

You're inviting someone into a parent's home. Here's exactly what happens before that ever occurs.

01

Licensing Verification

We confirm every contractor holds an active Maryland home improvement license before they're dispatched to a single job. No exceptions, no expired paperwork.

02

Insurance Confirmation

General liability and workers' compensation coverage are verified and kept current. If a certificate lapses, that contractor stops receiving work until it's resolved.

03

Aging-in-Place Certification (CAPS)

We prioritize contractors with Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist training through the National Association of Home Builders, a program specifically focused on the details general contractors miss.

04

Background Check Policy

Contractors working in a client's home are subject to a background check as a condition of receiving leads through our network.

05

Ongoing Accountability

We track every job from assessment to completion. A contractor who doesn't show up, misses a timeline, or gets consistent complaints stops receiving referrals from us.

Our Roots

Why Southern Maryland, DC & Northern Virginia

We started in Charles, St. Mary's, and Calvert counties because that's where we live and where we saw the need most clearly: rural roads, older housing stock, and a lot of adult children an hour away in DC or Northern Virginia worrying about a parent alone. As we've grown, that same worry showed up from families across the wider DMV, which is why we're expanding our reach into Washington DC and Northern Virginia. The model stays the same wherever we go: a truly local team, not a call center reading from a script.
